About A.R.Adams Funeral Directors Ltd

A.R.Adams (Funeral Directors) Ltd has been established since 1900, originally serving the community of Poplar in the East-End of London.

 

1915 Archibald Richard Adams expanded his funeral business into Thundersley and later Rayleigh where he became a figurehead in the local community.

 

In 1922 he was elected president of the British Undertakers' Association which later became known as the National Association of Funeral Directors.

 

Upon the death of Archibald in 1948, the establishment was taken over by his son, also Archibald Richard Adams who was previously employed with the company prior to serving as a solider in World War Two.

 

Upon his return in 1946 he resumed working in the family business until his retirement in 1988. Archibald’s son David who began working in the company in 1970 took over its management and in 1995 was joined by his son Bradley, who in turn took over the running of the company in 2004. 

 

A.R.Adams remains a family business and proudly continues to serve the community of Rayleigh and its surrounding arrears.
