You can arrange for the local post office to redirect the post and unwanted mail of someone who has died. It is also possible to stop junk mail from being sent to the deceased person.

Your local post office will help with redirecting mail, however a small fee will be required. You will need to prove that you have the correct authority in order to act on behalf of the deceased person and you may also be required to provide a copy of certified entry of death.

It is also possible to stop junk mail being sent to someone who has died. To do this, you can register details of the death with the Bereavement Register. Companies who check the Bereavement Register will remove details of the person who has died from mailing lists and marketing databases.

Whilst the Bereavement Register will help to stop a lot of junk mail it will not stop junk mail being sent from companies who do not check with the register.
