Expected Death at Home
If the death was expected and has occurred in the home, contact the doctor who had been attending to the deceased during their final illness. The doctor may write out the Medical Certificate of Death when they visit the house or they may request that you attend the surgery for this purpose.
If a death occurs in the home outside of normal surgery hours a deputising doctor or paramedic may attend the home and issue a "certificate of attendance" which will need to be passed onto the doctor’s surgery when it re-opens.
If the death was expected and the medical certificate or the certificate of attendance has been issued the funeral director of your choice should be contacted.
If you are entrusting A.R.Adams to carry out the funeral arrangements then our service to you will start when you first call us. A representative of the company will ask you for the name and location of the deceased and whether or not a doctor or other medical practitioner has confirmed that the death has occurred. Your name and address will be taken and you will also be asked if the forthcoming funeral arrangements will be for burial or cremation.
Two members of our staff will arrive at the home and will explain the next steps of the process to you before transferring the deceased into our companies care.
The deceased will be bought to our private chapel of rest in Rayleigh High Street, Essex.
Once the deceased has been taken into our care the funeral director will need to be contacted again during office hours in order to make an appointment to discuss the forthcoming funeral arrangements.
